Festival of the Sound presents This is Our Sound

“The Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts in Parry Sound is the physical and spiritual home of Festival of the Sound. The Stockey Centre is renowned for its stunning acoustics. But there’s a bonus: the Centre is situated on the magnificent shores of Georgian Bay. Each evening throughout the summer Festival, audience members stroll onto the deck during intermission to drink in the evening’s peace and tranquility, as the sun gently sets over the islands and waters of the Bay. Both great classical music and the spectacular beauty of nature are at the core of the Festival of the Sound experience.

The relaxed atmosphere of the summer Festival offers artists an opportunity to form unique collaborations and to perform both unusual repertoire and old favourites. Audiences return year after year to see their friends and favorite musicians. And when the silence of communal concentration envelops a magnificent and acoustically perfect concert hall, life just becomes better.

The Festival of the Sound has been presenting classical music and jazz in Parry Sound since 1979 and is proud to be a leading economic engine of the town. Artists as diverse as Dizzy Gillespie, the Borodin String Quartet, the Beaux Arts Trio, and Victor Borge have shared their gifts with local music lovers, visitors, and those who make Parry Sound their summer home.

The last two summers have been challenging. We’ve missed seeing you, but we hope this video, recorded in the Stockey Centre last summer, will bring the warmth of summer to your cold winter days.”
